S/SGT Xon Connett FLYING AS A RADAR OPERATOR IN DOUGLAS C-47 AIRCRAFT WITH THE 50TH TROOP CARRIER SQUADRON, 314TH TROOP CARRIER GROUP BASED NEAR SALTBY, ENGLAND. KILLED IN ACTION ON SEPTEMBER 18, 1944 IN AERIAL SUPPORT OF OPERATION MARKET GARDEN IN BELGIUM. AWARDED THE AIR MEDAL AND THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL POSTHUMOUSLY; EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. LATER BURIED WITH MILITARY HONORS AT ARDENNES AMERICAN CEMETERY, NEUPRE (NEUVILLE-EN-CONDROZ), BELGIUM.
