  • Terry abbott

    Terry Abbott was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on May 8, 1949. He was the son of Reginald Harvey and Alice Louise Cryen Abbott. Terry had two brothers; Stephen R and Tracey L and one sister; Penny L Abbott.

    He was a Private First Class in the Marine Corp, United States, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

    Terry lost his life during the Vietnam War while fighting in Thua Thien, Vietnam on February 22,1968.

    He was buried in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster, New Hampshire.

    Obituary

    Terry was born in Okmulgee, prior to his family moving to New Hampshire, where he attended Lancaster High School until he dropped out during his sophomore year to enlist in the Marines 31 May 1966, at a recruiting office in Manchester. He graduated 7 July 1966 with Platoon 2010, at the Parris Marine Recruit Depot. When Terry arrived in Vietnam 11 June 1967, he was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. While in the vicinity of The Citadel in Hue, during TET the Marines encountered hostile forces attempting a take over. Terry died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and body from hostile rifle fire. The battalion lost 28 Marines and 1 Corpsman, during the fierce and intense fighting. Survived by his parents, Reginald Harvey and Alice Louise Cryen Abbott, his 2 brothers; Stephen R and Tracey L and sister; Penny L Abbott all of 112 Summer St, Lancaster, New Hampshire.
