    My Beloved Paul,

Our lives were forever changed the day you died. But you died a hero and our country will forever be grateful for your sacrifice. We miss you every day and you remain very much a part of this family. God has given us His mercy and grace to overcome the deep grief we first felt when you left us. We now can remember you with smiles more than tears, although they are never far behind. Your beautiful smile will forever be on my heart. Oh, how I wish I could give you one more hug, share stories, laughs and tell you how much I cherished and loved you. I still cherish and love you, that will never change. I will see you again and oh, that brings me joy. Until that day, I keep you in my mind, heart and soul. And when sadness overcomes me, and I feel I can't go another day without you, I just close my eyes and you are there. You are smiling at me, letting me know that all is well. I love you, my Paul. As your brother Jamie wrote "A Great Man Does Not Have To Talk. His Legacy Is Left By The Way He Walked." Loving you forever Paul, forever in our hearts.

There is a beautiful place at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Beautiful, but heartbreaking. They plant a tree for each of their fallen soldiers. Every December they place a wreath on the trees of the fallen. We go to place a wreath on your tree, Paul. We also place some items that remind us of you at the base of your tree. At night, it's so still among the trees. We go the night before the wreath ceremony to see your tree and just to be together. Paul, you are loved forever.

There are many things death cannot take away. My memories and my love are just a few. When people speak of you, most talk about your beautiful smile. Indeed it was!
