TRIBUTES

Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.

  • Pilot of the Lonesome Polecat, a B24 Liberator on a mission to bomb a V1 launch site located at Siracourt, France. The aircraft crashed on feb 11th 1944 in Rouxmesnil Bouteilles, France at 9:54 AM, killing Lt Turner as well as the other 9 crew members.

Each year on February 11th, the mayor of Rouxmesnil Bouteilles and the citizens of this tiny town, located just a mile inland from the English channel coastal city of Dieppe, gather to honor these American servicemen who sacrificed their lives to free France from the tyranny of Nazi Germany.

The locals have not forgotten Lt Turner, nor his crew.
